Sydney Street Choir

The Sydney Street Choir was set up in 2001 to help men and women dealing with homelessness, mental illness, addiction and/or social disadvantage through the power of song. Sydney Street Choir began rehearsals in Redfern on 16 October 2001 with Choir Director, Jonathan Welch OAM. Jonathon realised a dream to create a homeless choir in Australia and give those people living in isolation or experiencing disadvantage a chance to enjoy positive community experiences, and the real health and social benefits of song. The Choir programme of rehearsals, performances and artistic projects continues its life-changing work under the creative direction of James Paul, Choir Director.
