Michael Rakowitz - paraSITE

paraSITE is a project by artist Michael Rakowitz who speaks with homeless people to design and make them their own custom built inflatable shelters that attach to the exterior outlet vents of a building’s HVAC system. Warm air leaving the building simultaneously inflates and heats the double membrane structures, which have been built and distributed to over 30 homeless people in Boston and Cambridge, MA and New York City.
